How it maps to the curriculum

Strand: Myself & the Wider World

Strand unit: Developing citizenship

Content objective:
This resource should enable a child to:

  • become aware of his/her own culture and recognise traditions, festivals and celebrations that are unique to the locality, region or country
  • begin to develop an awareness of the lives and culture of some people in the European Union

Suggestions for use: Pupils can use the information as a way of researching about Christmas as part of a Christmas project. Use the online advent calendar to count down the days to Christmas with an online surprise each day. Unwind your class by watching the snow fall with music giving time for pupils to reflect on the meaning of Christmas to them.
