Eclipses - Solar versus Lunar

Added: 29 Aug 2016 Contributor: Scoilnet Resource type: Simulation

A lovely animation which visually explains the differences between the solar eclipse and the lunar eclipse. The lunar and solar animations both have a description to read. Students can also find out more tips about observing solar eclipses or even visit NASA's calendar for upcoming eclipses.

Strand: 02. Earth and Space

Strand unit: 04. Model of Earth-Sun-Moon System

Suggestions for use: Students must use the animation to learn about the differences between a solar and a lunar eclipse. Challenge students in finding three similarities and differences between lunar and solar eclipses. (These ideas can be recorded on a Venn Diagram)
