Baby Names of Ireland

Added: 09 Jul 2020 Contributor: CSO Ireland Resource type: Simulation

The Central Statistics Office online Data Visualisation Tool enables students to search how popular Irish baby names were/are in any given year in Ireland from 1964 to present. Using this tool students can see the popularity of their own name, or the names of their family, friends etc.
Maths teacher, James Carroll, has created some lesson activities to accompany the online CSO Data Visualisation Tool;
- Searching for Your Name in the Year of Your Birth
- Calculating the Total Births in Your Gender in the Year of Your Birth
- Calculating what % of Births in the Year You Were Born Shared Your Name
- Tracking the Popularity of Your Name
