Music Toolkit: Using Classroom Performance for Teaching Literacy

Added: 30 Sep 2020 Contributor: PDST Resource type: Guide/notes / Audio / Video

A video containing tips for listening, analysing and performing 'One Day Like This' by Elbow. This video (which was originally in PowerPoint format) accompanied the presentation at a workshop given by PDST Music in 2016. It has been re-assembled here by request and contains material that teachers may use in their own re-construction of the scheme of work.

How it maps to the curriculum

SC
Music

Strand: Harmony

Suggestions for use: Teachers and students play through the video, exploring the terminology related to the song. The music of the chorus is written out in harmony and this is suitable for classroom singing in monophonic, homophonic and polyphonic textures. Teachers will find ideas for further development among the images and notated examples.
