School level
Any resource that supports teaching and learning is VERY welcome to be uploaded to Scoilnet. Anything unsavoury is not. Have a good look through our Terms and Conditions for a breakdown of what is and isn’t welcome here.

Watch this demonstration of Scoilnet's quick 3-step upload process.

What file types can be uploaded?

Any appropriate website URL can be uploaded to Scoilnet.

In terms of actual files, we currently accept the following file types:

  • Adobe Acrobat (.pdf)
  • Microsoft Excel (.xls, xlsx)
  • Microsoft PowerPoint (.ppt, pptx)
  • Microsoft Publisher (.pub)
  • Microsoft Word (.doc, .docx)
  • Rich Text (.rtf)
  • Smartboard (.xbk, .notebook)
  • Starboard (.yar)
  • Text Document (.txt)
  • XML (.xml)
  • Zip (.zip)

What is the maximum file size that can be uploaded?

Each file should be no more than 50MB in size.

Can I upload several files at the one time?

No, right now each resource in Scoilnet is linked to one object (one file or one URL). So, if for example you have a worksheet and a lesson plan as two files, it might be best to create a single file before you upload to Scoilnet. Otherwise they would need to be uploaded as two separate resources. However, there is a slight exception to this general rule when talking about a different language version of the same resource. See the next question.

I have an Irish and an English version of the same resource. Can I upload them together?

When it comes to language versions, you can in fact upload two files as part of one resource. But it must be exactly the same resource in a different language. Upload one version of the resource first, then click on the ‘Add a translation’ link on your Dashboard where you can add translated text for it and append another file.

Why are Scoilnet’s terms and conditions so strict?

We want Scoilnet to be a healthy, positive environment for teachers to share their resources so we kindly ask that you show respect for your fellow teachers and for the broader educational community by following our terms and conditions which outline the kind of content that can be uploaded. We would also ask that you are respectful of Scoilnet contributors and their resources, even if you disagree with something.
