This week's Star Site

This is a really nice bilingual website, created and updated regularly by Scoil Náisiúnta Taobhóige. There is a host of accessible useful information for parents to easily access and download online.

Copies of the school policies are available to download in both Irish and English. This is a great resource for both parents and teachers to reference. These policies are available under the schools tab. Also available under the schools tab is information about the parent’s council. What we particularly like about this aspect of the site is that it explains what the parents council are responsible for. This is beneficial in a number of ways, firstly so all parents understand the parent’s council’s role and on the other hand should parents wish to be involved with the parents council they understand how they can contribute. Another useful point of information within the schools tab is the fact that there are images of both the Board of Management and School Staff. The fact that there are images of the members of both the Board of Management and the School Staff, it makes them easier for parents to identify at the school gate.

A further aspect of this site that we in the Scoilnet Star Site love is the calendar. Not only is the calendar downloadable it is also colour coded making it easy to glance at to access the required information such as school holidays.

It is also clear that the school understands the importance a website as a means of communication with a school along with their inclusion in school life. This can be seen in the tab about Active Schools, in which a Zumba class was also organised for parents.

In all this is a welcoming and informative point of contact for parents. While Scoil Náisiúnta Taobhóige’s website is bilingual, we think it would be beneficial if the menu options or tabs were also available in both English and Irish to support those without the Irish language.
