This week's Star Site

Congratulations to St Colman’s NS for being awarded Scoilnet.ie Star Site. The school’s website is very well laid out with good use of colour and space. The site is regularly updated and is very easy to navigate. The most relative and up to date information is posted on the home page which is very convenient for parents and pupils. A regularly updated noticeboard and twitter feed for the school is embedded on the right hand side.

The site reflects the inclusive nature of the school by having a page for the Board of Management as well as one for the Parent’s Council. The school also partakes in a wide range of sports such as GAA, Hockey, Rounders, Soccer, Swimming and Tag Rugby. As well as all their involvement in sport, the school was awarded an Active School Flag as well as at least four Green Flags for environmental awareness and care.

The school has up to date policies on their site along with having an easy to follow calendar which is colour coded and highlights important dates next to each month. There is also a link to the school’s newsletter which keeps visitors and parents informed of the school’s events and activities. The school is also investing in technology by purchasing eight new laptops and two interactive whiteboards with funds donated by the Parent’s Council.

This a very simple and straight forward website that is well maintained and provides invaluable information to parents, pupils and the community about the school’s activities.
