The St. Patrick's Day Parade is happening on 17th March! This year, you can attend any of the wonderful events organised to celebrate this special day, or you can watch them online. A dedicated online global TV channel is launching on the 16th of March to celebrate the St. Patrick's Festival, and runs over five virtual days and nights. Additionally, RTÉ will once again broadcast the St. Patrick's Day parade, encouraging people from all over the world to come together online on March 17th.
The Story of St Patrick
St Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland, known for spreading Christianity throughout the country as a missionary during the 5th century.
When Patrick was about sixteen years old, he was captured and sold into slavery in Ireland. He was put to work as a shepherd. He lived in Ireland for six years. During this time, he turned to prayer.
One night, Patrick had a dream that a ship was waiting, and he knew it was the answer to his prayers. Patrick ran away and found a ship that took him home to Britain. But his dreams did not end there. In another dream, Patrick heard the voices of the Irish people calling and begging him to come back and help them learn more about Christianity. Patrick did not want to go back to Ireland but he trusted in God, and he went anyway. As soon as Patrick got to Ireland, he knew he had made the right decision.

The National Flag of Ireland, a tricolour of green, white and orange, is twice as wide as it is high. The three colours are of equal size and the green goes next to the flagstaff.
The Flag was first flown from 33 The Mall, Waterford on 7 March 1848 by Thomas Francis Meagher. It was flown over the GPO during the 1916 Rising and was adopted as the flag of the Irish Free State in 1922, and formally confirmed as the National Flag in the 1937 Constitution.
