Rugby World Cup 2019

The 2019 Rugby World Cup is the ongoing ninth Rugby World Cup, and is being held in Japan from 20 September to 2 November. This is the first time the tournament has been held in Asia.

The in-house Scoilnet team has curated a special themepage to cover the event. See how much your students and pupils know about the Rugby World Cup with this 'Beat the Teacher' fun resource.

Watch the highlights of the Ireland v Scotland, Japan v Ireland with your class. Then, use the Irish Newspaper Archive to read and analyse a piece of sports writing about the match. English teacher, Fiona Kirwan, has created a lesson plan with a supporting worksheet on analysing sports writing.

Ireland, Ireland,
Together standing tall!
Shoulder to shoulder,
We'll answer Ireland's call!
