Seven-step guide with images on how to make an electroscope at home or in the class. Very few materials required. Video also included.

Suggestions for use: Static electricity: Self discovery task. In groups of four; provide students with the materials to make on electroscope. Challenge the students to demonstrate static electricity using all of the provided materials given. Students first draw model of creation to make. Allow time for students to discuss what they know about static electricity. Check students creations by walking around and guide students using directed questions. Discuss ideas as a class. Provide students with the guide sheet (printed from this link). Show video clip. Plenary: Ask students write a paragraph on what they recalled about static electricity and what they know about an electroscope.
