What Is a Print?

Added: 20 May 2014 Contributor: Scoilnet Resource type: Reference

Flash based resource that looks at different forms of print making - etching, lithography, screenprinting, woodcutting. It references various artists and contains a useful glossary.

How it maps to the curriculum

5-6
Visual Arts

Strand: Print

Strand unit: Making Prints

Content objective:
This resource should enable a child to:

  • experiment with more complex printmaking techniques
  • make prints for functional uses (as well as for their own sake)
  • use more complex print-making techniques to make theme-based or non-representational prints

Suggestions for use: Theory based. Some of the references could be too advanced for Primary needs but the basic information is good. Flash required so might not work with many devices.
