Essay exploring the impact of the 1913-14 'lockout' on the Kildare village and surrounding area. Looks at living conditions at the time and the events that unfolded as workers attempted to join unions and change working conditions.
This essay was a winning entry from Scoil na Mainistreach (Oldtown) in the ‘Decade of Centenaries’ All-Island Schools History Competition 2014 organised jointly by the Departments of Education in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
