Teacher-led resources from the Safefood.eu organisation aimed at the Irish curriculum around the area of eating healthy and food safety. Includes advice on healthy lunches, the importance of clean hands; and hygiene around animals. Some of the advice sheets contain colouring activities.

This resource should enable a child to:

  • appreciate that balance, regularity and moderation are necessary in the diet
  • recognise and practise good hygiene when dealing with food

Suggestions for use: The factsheets are excellent and most have printable PDFs. The colouring activity contained in the 'animals' section could be priinted and given to class.

This resource should enable a child to:

  • discuss and examine the importance of proper food hygiene
  • examine the dietary needs of his/her own age group and other groups in society

Suggestions for use: The factsheets are very good and could be displayed on the class IWB and discussed.
