Strand unit: 6. Factors Affecting Human Health

Suggestions for use: Use an introductory activity to explain the consequences of smoking. Place students in groups initially to discuss the difference between the healthy and smoker's lung. Create a list of probing questions such as: why are the lungs black, why do they not inflate fully etc. Allow them time to discuss and then compile a list of causes and how this may contribute to lung cancer.
