How it maps to the curriculum

1-2
Visual Arts

Strand: Construction

Strand unit: Making Constructions

Content objective:
This resource should enable a child to:

  • explore and experiment with the properties and characteristics of materials in making structures

Suggestions for use: Provide each pupil with a scissors, thread/string, paint/colouring pens and this worksheet. Inter-curricular worksheet: teach pupils the words for arms and legs in Irish. Then ask pupils to self discover how they can construct their soccer player so that he can play in the Euro 2016. Alternatively, print the soccer player out on A3 paper and stick onto a board. Use like the game "pin the tail on the donkey". This will promote pupils listening and responding skills in English with a fun aspect involved.
