Added: 25 May 2016 Contributor: Scoilnet Resource type: Demonstration / Reference

Introduce the topic of Punctuation by using this Poster. Perfect for your sporting fanatics and in the build up for the Euro 2016 Event!

How it maps to the curriculum

1-2
English

Strand: Writing

Content objective:
This resource should enable a child to:

  • understand that the conventions of punctuation help to make meaning clearer in writing

Suggestions for use: Print off the punctuation sheet for the pupils. Provide pupils with an article, ask them to highlight every-time they see a punctuation. Each punctuation is a GOAL. How many goals did your article score on punctuation? Ask pupils to tell you a little about a particular punctuation (character profile); where are they located? Are the beside capitals? Why are they there? Provide pupils with sentences to rewrite and to include punctuation marks where they think they should go. Allow time. Correct as class and give time for pupils to re-write
