Soccer Drill Videos

Added: 26 May 2016 Contributor: Scoilnet Resource type: Game / Guide/notes / Audio / Video

Don't go straight into the game this week...practice drills and then give goals to teams when they use the drill in matches instead rather than the ball being in the net. Would you like a class full of Cristiano Ronaldo's? This website offers individual skills for your expert soccer players to practice learning Ronaldo's turns and knuckle free kicks. There are also lots of free videos for all pupils ability focusing on the techniques and tactics used in soccer; passing drills, dribbling drills, shooting drills, control drills, heading drills, goalkeeper training, 2 v 2 drills, 1 v 1 drills, soccer agility drills and fun games.

Content objective:
This resource should enable a child to:

  • adapt rules for use in mini-games and keep scores of games
  • avail of opportunities in the community to participate in games
  • become aware of games events and players locally, nationally and internationally
  • begin to acquire an understanding of training to prepare for performance in games
  • develop an understanding of the tactics and strategies for use in mini-games
  • develop an understanding of the use of space in mini-games
  • discuss and improve control in movement skills relevant to games

Suggestions for use: Set up numbered stations outside for your P.E class. Provide an IPad at each station for the group to sit around watching the drill they need to practice. Designate a pupil as the leader in each mini team. Provide the soccer after three - four minutes of watching video. Pupils practice drills in the groups. Rotate stations after 5 minutes practicing. Set class in small teams for a match. Before the match, give 5 minutes for the team to plan the tactics they will use. Could repeat the numbered station activity when they are in their teams. For the match; a goal is rewarded if they use the drill clearly. A goal is awarded if they score a goal.
