The children will learn about the biodegradation of items typically found on the seashore. This activity can be done in class or on the seashore. They will identify and distinguish between natural and manufactured objects found at the seashore, identify and explain what biodegradation is and identify and communicate how long different compounds will take to biodegrade. This lesson could also be adapted to examine types of litter which may be found in your local community.
