One World, Our World storybook

One World Our World is a storybook for 10-12 year olds on five of Irish Aid’s partner countries - Ethiopia, Lesotho, Mozambique, Tanzania and Vietnam. The illustrated book contains five stories, one from each of these countries. As well as case studies this storybook includes maps, fact files, general country information and a ‘what we do’ feature about Irish Aid’s work.

Content objective:
This resource should enable a child to:

  • acquire some knowledge of the origins, work and Irish involvement in some major international organisations
  • come to appreciate the inequalities between the developed and the developing world
  • examine the work of relief agencies and become aware of Irish involvement in them

Suggestions for use: This book could be used as a reference for project work in class. Children could be split into groups with each group given the task of completing a project on one of the countries in the book - Ethiopia, Lesotho, Mozambique, Tanzania or Vietnam.
