An outline of how to explore Australian Aboriginal art with a senior class, enabling them to explore colour, pointillism and art from other cultures.

Content objective:
This resource should enable a child to:

  • discover pattern and rhythm in natural and manufactured objects
  • explore colour with a variety of colour drawing instruments, media and techniques
  • express his/her imaginative life and interpret imaginative themes using colour expressively
  • make paintings based on recalled feelings and experiences and discover ways of achieving spatial effects

Suggestions for use: Use this website to plan some lessons on making and responding to Aboriginal art. Includes diagrams of commonly used symbols for you to work with. Links well with both history and culture studies.
