Healthy Foods Quiz

Added: 23 Aug 2018 Contributor: Sharon Hogan Resource type: Assessment / Game

This resource links to a simple online FlexiQuiz based on the topic of Healthy Foods. A series of images of different foods are presented. Under each picture, two statements about hat food being healthy or not healthy are written. Children have to decide if the food is healthy or not and select the appropriate button. The foods go across most of the food groups.

How it maps to the curriculum

in
SPHE

Strand: Myself

Strand unit: Taking care of my body

Content objective:
This resource should enable a child to:

  • discuss and explore some qualities and categories of food

Suggestions for use: Use this quiz as a fun way to assess children's prior knowledge of different categories of food (healthy vs unhealthy) before an integrated SESE & SPHE teaching module on food and healthy eating. Alternatively, use it at the end of a module to assess learning and to plan future lessons. This resource would also work very well in a small group teaching environment: e.g. SEN or EAL teaching. It could also be sent home to allow parents to play the game with their children.
