Content objective:
This resource should enable a child to:

  • become aware of various ethnic, religious and linguistic groups of peoples in Ireland, Europe and the wider world
  • learn to value and respect the diversity of peoples and their lifestyles in these areas and other parts of the world
  • study some aspects of the environments and lives of people in one location in Europe and one location in another part of the world

Suggestions for use: When each group has selected nine rights they should begin working through the 32 Syria refugee cards and, in each case, ask critically: ‘To what extent does this child or these children enjoy any of the rights my group has selected?’ A group scribe should take notes including supporting evidence. If time is short the number of cards could be reduced.

iReport - Reporting a Racist Incident

http://www.ireport.ie/ Added: 16 Sep 2016 Contributor: Scoilnet Resource type: Other

iReport is a reporting system for the people, communities and organisations of Ireland to document racist incidents that are occurring nationwide.
People bear witness to incidences of racism everyday. If you have experienced, witnessed or heard about a racist incident in Ireland there is something you can do about it.
By reporting the racist incidents you will help ENAR Ireland:
1. Understand how often racist incidents occur in Ireland.
2. Understand in greater detail who is experiencing racism in Ireland.
3. Understand more about different kinds of racism in Ireland.
4. In some cases, if you are willing, take action against the people responsible.
5. Devise effective local strategies for combating racism.
6. Inform our arguments for stronger anti-racist policies at a national level.
