98 year old local man recalls his schooldays in the 1930s; walking to school in his feet, saving turf with the slane, playing "banging buttions" at break time, brown bread and milk in a glass bottle for lunch and fetching water from the well.

We interviewed 98 year old great grandfather of one our class and then re-enacted some of the scenes for his school days such as walking to school in his bare feet, playing "banging buttons" in the school yard, "drawing" water from the well, saving turf for the school fire with the slane and a visit from the school photographer.
