Strand: Reading
Content objective: This resource should enable a child to:
- become an increasingly independent reader
- continue to self-correct reading errors
- identify unfamiliar words by reference to word parts, prefixes and suffixes
Suggestions for use: Divide the class into small groups, distributing a different tongue twister to each group. Allow children time to read it together in their groups and then in front of the class. Distribute a different tongue twister to each group and do same if time permits. Extend the activity by allowing children to create their own tongue twister.
Strand: Reading
Suggestions for use: Present the tongue twister examples on the IWB as a fun stimulus to an activity that requires children to formulate more complex examples and later challenging their peers to read them with precision.
