Getting Around

'  Walking or cycling was how we got around. I remember walking to school and eating my lunch along the way - a thick slice of loaf buttered.

As we were walking, we'd stop along the way to get other lads up and out for school...We had to leave early for school.

At that time, if you used a horse on the road. It had to have an ID on the horse shoe with the owners name and address.

If the horse had no ID, you were in trouble and would get fined.  '
