Major changes have occurred in the tram network over the last century. This story looks at the old Dublin and Blessington Steam Tram and the new modern tram system known as the Luas.

Over 34 million passengers were carried on the Luas in 2015. This number is set to rise in the coming years. Luas is the Irish word for speed. The Luas has modern and comfortable carriages with lots of room for passengers to sit and stand.
