1. Star Of The Sea use to be called “Scarlet’s Hill” in the olden days.


2. Oswald road is called Oswald road because the Oswald family use to live there.


3. Sandymount used to be called brickfield,  but was then changed to Sandymount because it was not a particularly attractive name. The local builders wanted people from the centre of Dublin to move to the area and thought that no one would buy the houses in the are unless they changed the name.
